Halkidiki is primarily a choice for those who want a more peaceful family vacation or to spend the summer in a couple, but if you still want to have a good time, Halkidiki provides quite decent choices for entertainment. When you arrive at a particular destination, it is best to ask what bars and taverns are popular places to spend as well as what are the beaches where there is a good beach bar with good music. Another tip is to follow the posters on poles around the city (or even the highway) announcing special events such as guest appearances by various DJs or live musicians. However, we have to be honest and admit that these events are quite rare even in the summer (once every two weeks), so don’t expect to have a crazy party every night of your summer vacation in Halkidiki with the latest music hits and unforgettable fun.
Of course, the center of nightlife in Halkidiki is definitely on Kassandra, the first finger of Halkidiki where there is a large number of discos, lounge bars, seafront taverns and even beach bars that organize parties. Of the places that provide the best entertainment, the most famous are definitely Kalitea, Hanioti, and Pefkochori. Since there are plenty of local tourists here too, you will come across many places that play our music so this is not a bad choice if you like this kind of entertainment.
The second finger of the peninsula of Sithonia, more provides a selection of good lounge cafes and bars, and the most popular places for entertainment are certainly Neos Maramaras and Nikiti, as well as Sarti with nice cafeterias and bars. In Sithonia, on the other hand, you will rarely find local music playing anywhere, as this is not a popular destination for domestic tourists to go out at night, and if you go out in the night, you will find mostly Greek and foreign hits. As for the Athos, you will hardly find any form of night entertainment on the third finger other than a tavern.
Of course, there is always fun for anyone who wants to go out, so we have singled out a couple of places that can be a good choice if you want to have fun.
As for the beach bars, Anemos beach bar in Sani is a day reserved for water sports and coffee, and in the evening you can have cocktails and enjoy live music. There is also the popular Navagos beach bar (Paliouri), a great beach bar that organizes parties on weekends. Of course, we also have to mention the Almyra and Papua beach bars at the popular beach in Kalitea where parties and DJs are organized.
Speaking of Kalitea, here are a few places to choose from, such as Spitaki, one of the most popular places to go outdoors, and then Angels, which captures its guests with all-white, summer décor. We should also mention Ahoy, which is one of the most popular summer nightclubs and has been operating since 1990 and only opens late at night.
In Hanioti we can single out the Afros Bar, a relaxing spot in the central square of Hanioti or Mystique which is exclusively for night out, as this cocktail bar only works from 7pm.
As for Pefkochori, we can mention Bombo and Sushi, where music is played until late hours, but definitely the most popular place is Kahlua, which has been the center of nightlife for 30 years. At Polychrono we can single out the Cafe Bar but know that this is primarily a day bar with delicious treats. Of the other beach bars, it’s worth mentioning the Yach Cafe-Bar (Nea Kalikratia), which is actually an all-day beach bar.
Of the beach bars in Sithonia, Manassu beach bar is definitely the most popular choice for those who want some kind of beach party as well as the famous Talgo beach. Certainly, take the term beach party as a very broad term, because as we said, Halkidiki is primarily a family place. You can also find a good atmosphere at the Bahia beach bar. Somewhat more alternative is the Goa beach bar, which is well hidden, where parties used to be held regularly and now nightly parties are only held from time to time.
As we said, Neos Marmaras is the place where you have the most nightlife choices and here is the most famous place to go in the entire Molos Peninsula, where people from Thessaloniki go down on weekends to be seen and have a good time. Molos is popular not only for its ambience reminiscent of the Cyclades with a beautiful terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea, but also for its crazy night parties. It is interesting that few of our tourists know about this place at all and you will mostly meet Greeks here. From the Neos Marmaras exit spot, we also have to mention Ploton, which is located on Main Chateau Street, just below Molos. This is a place for a younger audience (up to 25 years old), but it also features a great interior, with a large terrace that literally floats on the water.
As for Nikiti, Vertigo is a popular beach bar that has been operating successfully for the last 15 years and has successfully maintained its mainstream character. There is also To Spitaki, a coffee bar primarily known for its homemade ice cream as well as Barcarolla, a unique wine bar in downtown Nikiti that is almost exclusively built of stone and wood. As for Sarti, at the heart of the place is Pepenoaki Karopouzaki (translated from melons and watermelons) where the very name reveals that this is a vividly decorated cafe that is the ideal chill out zone for every day.
As an alternative to a tumultuous nightlife in Halkidiki, what you can always do is spend a more peaceful evening with a nice, romantic dinner at the many taverns in Halkidiki that are open until midnight. Of course, if you are in for a more serious nightlife, be sure to stop by Thessaloniki. Wherever you go, we hope you have a good time and have fun!
Have you been to any of these places? What is your proposal for a fun time?
