Afytos is said to be one of the most beautiful traditional villages on Halkidiki, 80 km away from Thessaloniki. The entire place is situated on a rock over the sea, offering a breathtaking view of the Thoroneos bay and a colourful combination of sea, sky and nature. The village has several large tourist complexes, but has nevertheless kept its traditional appearance thanks to old stone houses. Afytos beach: Afytos has two beautiful sandy beaches, with a few pebbly sections. They are nicely maintained with sun beds and parasols for rent. There are also small, hidden bays with intimate atmosphere you will like. Trails from the beach are pretty steep so it is not advisable for people who are not completely mobile. However, most visitors decide to take a 15 minute walk from the beach to relish nature and scenery, which can also be a healthy recreation. The sea is very clean and remains warm till autumn.
