Nea Moudania is the main tourist destination located 50 km away from Thessaloniki and one of the biggest fishing harbors in Greece. It has the population of around 10.000, what makes it the biggest town on Halkidiki and a great base from where you can visit other places on Kassandra. Nea Moudania is the favourite destination to Thessaloniki residents and many of them built their summer houses here. The town has its old part, a natural harbor and many bars, cafes and restaurants. You can try fish and other seafood in taverns, drink ouzo or retsina and swim in warm sea. Main attraction in Nea Moudania is a big church Panagia Korifini, a modern object made of brick. The town has an open theatre with 2.000 seats, where open sky music festivals regularly take place in summer. Nea Moudania is blessed with 200 sunny days a year.
Nea Moudania beach: Long sandy beach allows gradual entry into the clear blue sea. The sea is shallow, so it is convenient for children and people who are not so good at swimming. This beach is one of the main reasons why Nea Moudania, apart from its economic, commercial and cultural importance, occupies an important place in tourist offer of Halkidiki.
Long beaches, crystal clear sea and numerous bars in this area are some of the amenities this town has to offer. The locals are very experienced merchants who managed in just a couple of decades to turn this town into commercial and economic centre of Halkidiki, but keeping all of its traditional features. With its shallow and warm sea, clean and well-maintained beaches and many facilities necessary for cosy summer holiday, Nea Moudania attracts tourists over and over again.
