Pefkochori is one of the most interesting places on Kassandra peninsula. It is located around 95 km from Thessaloniki and just 4 km away from Hanioti. It is a small place with a long, sandy and pebbly beach with the pine trees behind it, after which the place got its name. It was named after dense pine woods surrounding it (pefko – a pine tree; chorio – village). It boasts of a beautiful church, old town, streets with blossoming lemon trees, long sandy beach with gradual entry into the clear sea, a promenade running down the beach which in the evening becomes the hub of night life as it features many taverns, restaurants, pizzerias and bars. Pefkochori has hotels, villas, rent-a-car agencies, pastry shops, medical centre, pharmacy, post office.
Summer swarming is typical for this place and it is never boring here. Taverns, pizzerias and restaurants are packed. You will mostly hear Serbian language, so you won’t have any problems to communicate in shops and restaurants. The Greek also like to come here for the weekend.
Pefkochori beach: Endless sandy beach connects Pefkochori and Hanioti. The sea is beautiful and turquoise blue. Town beach is long and narrow, sandy and pebbly, with gradual entry into crystal clear sea. If you travel to the seaside by car, we suggest that you visit the most beautiful beaches of Kassandra, only 5 km far from Pefkochori (Golden Beach, Xenia) and see why they proudly bear such title.
Pefkochori is ideal place for a pleasant and nice stay. Green pines, clear sea and beautiful beaches spiced up with Greek specialities recommend this place. It is not strange that this place has been one of the most popular places on Halkidiki, since it suits the taste of the most choosy tourists.
