Polichrono (poli – many, hronos- time), which means long-lasting, is a true pearl of the first Halkidiki finger – Kassandra peninsula. It is located around 85 km from Thessaloniki, between Kalithea and Kriopigi from the one side, and Hanioti and Pefkochori from the other side. The place is very picturesque, featuring paved streets with palms and lemon and olive trees, nicely-groomed gardens full of colourful trees, promenade with public lighting, old traditional houses as well as beautiful, modern villas. There are also supermarkets, lots of shops with souvenirs and products made of olive oil and seafood, as well as leather and fur clothes, jewellery shops, medical centre, pharmacy. The place is particularly lively in July and August. There is a small lake close to Polichrono, which is a natural reserve of „testudinata“ turtles.
