Sikia is one of the oldest villages on Chalkidiki. It is about 150 km away from Thessaloniki and has around 3000 inhabitants. It is situated 3 km inland, and includes a couple of beaches close by. It has pastry shops, stores, but not any representative promenade, and shopping for larger quantites of groceries requires going to Sarti. Prices of accommodation are lower than in other parts of Sithonia, so if you don’t mind walking from apartment to the beach, and don’t want to spend much money on accommodation, maybe Sikia will be the right choice for you and your family. The architecture, in particular of the old town, has resembles the Holy Mountain. Another attraction is the so-called “cuckoo”, that is, a high rocky hill surrounded by the fortress remnants, where a prehistoric settlement is believed to have been built. Locals engage in fishing, agriculture, cattle-breeding, beekeeping and tourism.
Sikia beach: Apart from the sandy town beach characterized by clear water and soft sand, there are many other beautiful and popular beaches, such as Kriaritsi beach. There are a couple of cafes where you can rent parasols and sun beds, but the most part of the beach is available for your own towels and parasols. Also, the beach is very well organized for campers.
Sikia is a quiet place for true nature lovers. There are no any major hotel complexes, but the place has many camping sites, apartments and houses.
